Stone Setter Job Description

We are seeking applicants for the position of Stone Setter. Hours

Full Time, 7:00am to 3:30pm

Role

Stone setting precious and semi-precious stones in corporate identity jewelry.  Metals used include karat gold, sterling and brass.  Stones are set primarily by means of Bead, Prong and Nick setting.

Training

Stone setting is a highly trained and sought after skill.  We will provide training to those applicants that show proven ability to learn stone setting.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Read and follow work order instructions which includes:
    • The number of parts
    • The number, quality, size and placement of stones
    • Stone set parts by methods described in the work order specifications
  • Stone setters are responsible for their own work and quality
  • Inform supervisors of quality issues before setting stones
  • Be a resource for our tooling, design and engineering departments.
  • Maintain reasonable productive pace
  • Entering labor tickets into Visual ERP System.
  • Coordinate stone setting operations. Breaking work orders down to designated levels for stone setting. Request stones and other allocations as required.

  • Production Team:
    • Clearly communicate expectations to stakeholders
    • Engage in and support cross-training process and succession planning
    • Participate in daily standup meeting with team
    • Escalate issues for next-level support as appropriate
Experience, Education, and Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be willing and able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily.  This requires:

  • One year or more experience some kind of bench hand work craft or skill
  • One year or more of some stone setting experience is a plus.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to build positive relationships within the organization.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Flexible - Ability to adjust to changing priorities.
  • Consistent regular attendance.
  • Compliance with the Company Policy Manual’s terms and conditions; signed at hire.
  • Applicants must be able to speak, read and write in English.
  • Ability to prioritize and be flexible within job structure
  • Experience and practical knowledge of LEAN principles are a big plus
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
