Ring Tour: The Chiefs Super Bowl LVII Championship Ring

Earlier this month, the Kansas City Chiefs won their second Super Bowl in a row in a thrilling overtime game. Whether you’re a fan or not, there’s no denying how monumental a Super Bowl win is. The magnitude of the achievement demands an award to match. Since new Super Bowl ring designs aren’t announced until June, let’s take a tour of the Chiefs’ ring from 2023.

From Above

If the goal was to outshine the Chiefs’ previous Super Bowl ring from 2020, the 2023 design definitely succeeded. The ring is larger and more square shaped to mimic a birds-eye view of GEHA Field at Arowhead Stadium. Besides this, the basic design elements are very similar to their 2020 design.. Three diamond studded Lombardi Trophies sit on a background of rubies. The Chiefs logo rests on top of the trophies, and the words “World Champions” frame the spectacular image. Each stone configuration has a special meaning:

  • A frame of 38 diamonds represents the Chiefs’ final score against the Eagles.
  • The 16 diamonds that make up the Lombardi Trophy bases represent the 16 players who scored a touchdown in the regular season.
  • 50 diamonds in the arrowhead represent the 50 years the Chiefs have called GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium home.
  • 16 rubies make up the “KC” and represent the total division titles the franchise has won.

What’s Inside

The recent trend of having removable bezels on championship rings means there is even more room for customization! The top of the ring can be removed and converted into a necklace pendant. Inside is a mini Arrowhead Stadium with a quote from the team’s founder engraved around it. Also inside is a creative and personal detail: either 1, 2, or 3 mini Lombardi Trophies depending how many that player has been on the team for. It seems that this trend of hidden compartment rings leads designers to tuck the most personal and heartfelt details inside the heart of the ring.

Underneath It All

The tour isn’t over yet! The inside of the ring band is packed with more details. Most notable is Coach Reid’s monosyllabic motto, “Edge” in bright red block letters. Below that is the player’s unique signature and the scores from the playoffs. On the very bottom of the ring is another nod to the Chiefs’ founder, Lamar Hunt, with his initials on a football.
